I’ve been asked many times, whether i will want to have kids when (if or when) i get married.

There are many things to take into consideration… let’s look at some of them shall we?

Is the PAP Government for the people? is an article written by Goh Meng Seng about how the Govt is not really helping the poor and middle income people. Unfortunately, i belong to the middle income group which means.. well just take a look at the 11 reasons listed and see if you can agree with even some of them.

Housing Woes is another issue. Belonging to the middle class means that there is no way i’ll be able to afford private housing, which means i’ll be paying off my HDB loans after successfully getting a new flat (chances are about 20%) which will probably take up quite a lot of my income as it is.

Considering i’ll have to work til i grow old, and still work until i die take a look at this article by Andrew Loh in the TOC for a peek at what’s going on now. Its no wonder suicide rates for the elderly are rising.

And if our country’s population really reaches 6.5 million people in a few years’ time, I think i will personally grow crazy. Hey its true, just read this article by Dr Wong Wee Nam. Heck, if rats “.. suffer from infectious diseases, become violent (they even form gangs), most become withdrawn, passive and some mount male and female rats indiscriminately.”, who knows if we may end up doing the same thing?

Yes i know, i should probably rely on our highly paid government to correct and rectify these issues, but when i look at some of the Parliamentary reports. Just to list one for illustrations:

Mr Low Thia Khiang: A further clarification. So what is exactly the definition, or is there no definition of foreign talent? Is an EP holder considered as a foreign talent or just a foreign worker?

Dr Ng Eng Hen: Sir, “foreign” means not local, and “talent” means the opposite of non-talented.

I think it’ll take a long time before it gets corrected.

And with the rising costs of inflation.. (click here for a comprehensive list of items and services that has increased since last year), a snickers bar will probably cost $3 when i’m 30! or even earlier~

As much as i want to vote in a new government when i feel they aren’t doing that great, its really hard to do so with the current GRC system. I didn’t even get to vote at the last GE! Maybe we should take some pointers from Alex Au’s and seriously consider the PR voting system and deviate from the current system that highly favors the incumbents.

Wait where was i? Oh yea, will i have kids when i get married?
