The growing powers of a diplomat, or a non-existent fourth estate?

Now as most of you know, I’m not exactly a fan of Xiaxue or her posts (no thanks to the Dawn Yang/Lao Zabor and various other sagas), but I’ll be referring to one here today.

Why? Because it isn’t exactly a bitchy post, but more of an investigative journalism one.

The full article (including follow-ups) can be found here.

From Xiaxue’s blog:

Yes, I believe she underlined certain dubious points of the article in red, and further added in her post eight questions that she feels should be asked/answered.

Its weird how our country’s reporters seem to miss asking the obvious questions sometimes and either stick with what they’re given, or ask questions that are less important… Who’s fault is it that more and more people are turning to overseas newspaper for their daily dose of news?

Like what many people have already commented, I guess the fourth estate never really existed in Singapore.

Do feel free to check out Xiaxue’s investigative journalism at work here. The photo of the diplomat can be found there too.
